It just struck me, this is the tenth day that I have been ill. I'm now developing a headache and my temples are sore, probably due to the pressure from coughing and the lack of sleep. I think the end might be in sight now, in a good way, I seem to be coughing up less and not so much of a jelly consistency (sorry, maybe I should have warned you).
It all started when I woke up on Monday morning last week. I immediately knew something was wrong, the back of my nose and throat were swollen. At first I thought I had caught something on the plane back from Paris the night before, but that would have been too soon, so I must have picked it up either in Paris or on the flight there.
Later that day I had an appointment with an ear, nose and throat specialist for something else, but he of course had a general look around and confirmed the swelling and redness and felt the lymphe nodes in my neck, which I had forgotton to check myself.
On Tuesday I started sneezing. And sneezing. And sneezing. You get the idea. Plus my nose was runny. Wednesday I still sneezed, but my throat was starting to give me more trouble. I coughed a little on Thursday but on Friday it seemed to be getting better. I also needed the company, so I went out with K and Sunshine. I don't think I coughed all night.
But maybe I paid a price for that. I've been seriously coughing since Saturday and it's tiring me out. The thing is I hadn't really felt all that sick before then, just a little uncomfortable. Only the last couple of days did I start to feel it slowly wear me down. But I've been getting up, going about my business, it's not like I couldn't get out of bed. And now my appetite is getting better, I'm craving sweet stuff, probably for the energy, so I'm taking that as a good sign. Now if I can only get a good night's sleep...
